“Alice in Wonderland” is about Johnny Depp playing the part of “Talk Radio’s” Dave Foley in a wig, enticing a young woman to fight the prototype reject of Draco from “Dragonheart” to the soundtrack of alternating Frantic Strings and Oppresive, Melodic Strings. Gratuitous CGI and Green Screen usage abounds. The movie ends when the Jabberwocky turns out to be just a giant rubber finger puppet, and Alice comes back from Wonderland to dole out unsolicited criticisms upon her family. (“There is no prince! You should talk to someone about these delusions!” There. Severe mental illness solved by Alice’s sound advice.)
I won’t even get into Johnny (…or is it “Jonny?” I’ve never been sure.) Depp’s tribute to “Thriller” at the end, either. Gah.
i liked it okay as long as you ignore that it’s just a regular movie with wonderland characters and scenes inserted like a mad lib. the dance was pretty horrendous though.
we mostly thought it was boring because they shoved a two hour movie into an hour and half, so it was just boom, boom, boom from one thing to the next, without spending enough time on any one thing. which i guess is wonderland when done right, but it wasn’t done right. haha.
