    There was a discussion about this on Car Talk … when to replace your head lights. Some people think that when one goes, that you should do both because since they are the same bulb and were installed at the same time that it is only just a mater of time before the second one goes too, so you might as well replace both of them at the same time. On the other hand, there might have been a defect or other electrical problems that caused the first one to got out before the other one and you never know that that second one might last months more. That second bulb might be a super bulb and you would be wasteful throwing out before it was ready.

    So really I have no answer for you. Only more questions. Sorry for not being any help at all.

    yeah, that’s pretty much my feelings… i’ve pretty much never had a headlight NOT last for months after the first one went out. but without getting overly complicated, we don’t know if the upper thermostat actually worked or not. it’s pretty easy to replace it, it’s just time consuming and it takes hours to know if it worked or not.
