I wish I could do that – even my funny stuff is criticized as being too bleak and/or depressing. A guy at work caught “The Wretched & the Poor” http://ivanhenley.com/bren_collins and asked if I really went through that as a kid. I was laughing and telling him the rest of the story (spoilers!) and he was, like, motified.

“No, no,” I said. “It’s hilarious!” and he just looked really sympathetic. I felt kinda weird laughing at my own experiences. And Shawn the Comic Store Guy said I am really mean to my characters, and was offering suggestions as to how to “lighten it up a bit.” But I mean really – I guess I just have a twisted sense of what’s funny, maybe.
