I wish I could do that - even my funny stuff is criticized as being too bleak and/or depressing.  A guy at work caught &quot;The Wretched &amp; the Poor&quot; http://ivanhenley.com/bren_collins and asked if I really went through that as a kid.  I was laughing and telling him the rest of the story (spoilers!) and he was, like, motified.

&quot;No, no,&quot; I said. &quot;It&#039;s hilarious!&quot; and he just looked really sympathetic.  I felt kinda weird laughing at my own experiences.  And Shawn the Comic Store Guy said I am really mean to my characters, and was offering suggestions as to how to &quot;lighten it up a bit.&quot; But I mean really - I guess I just have a twisted sense of what&#039;s funny, maybe. :)</description>
